About Us

Welcome to Indian Ceramic News—your premier platform for the latest updates and in-depth insights into India's ceramic industry, with a special focus on Morbi, Gujarat—the undisputed "Ceramic Capital" of the country. Morbi's ceramic journey began in the 1930s with small-scale clay pottery and traditional "naliya" roof tiles. Today, it stands tall as a global ceramic powerhouse. The economic liberalization of the 1990s accelerated this growth, allowing Morbi to capitalize on abundant raw materials like clay, quartz, and feldspar, along with modern infrastructure and a skilled workforce.

Spanning an area of 50 km x 9 km, Morbi is now home to over 1,000 manufacturing units that produce 90% of India's ceramic tiles and contribute 13% to global ceramic tile production.

With an annual turnover exceeding ₹60,000 crore and exports crossing ₹15,000 crore in 2022–23, Morbi's ceramic cluster directly and indirectly employs nearly 400,000 people. Its wide range of products—including vitrified tiles, porcelain tiles, sanitaryware, and cutting-edge digital-printed designs—are exported to over 140 countries, including regions like Europe, the Middle East, and the USA.

Morbi's commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility is evident in its adoption of advanced technologies like digital printing and energy-efficient machinery, as well as sustainable practices such as water recycling. Recognized as a Town of Export Excellence (TEE) by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, Morbi continues to set global benchmarks.

Indian Ceramic News aims to connect global audiences with the dynamic ceramic ecosystem of Morbi by delivering timely, reliable, and comprehensive information. From market trends, technological innovations, and export milestones to sustainability initiatives—we showcase the craftsmanship, innovation, and global competitiveness of Morbi and India's ceramic industry.
